18A – Create a Customer Avatar

My protypical customer, based on my previous findings is a male in his 20s or 30s who is a new business owner.
- He enjoys golfing on the weekends
- He has a wife and between 2 and 4 young kids
- He drives a late model full size pickup truck
- He drinks a lot of coffee, especially in the mornings
- He enjoys motivational books and podcasts
- He is very active in the operations of his business
- He and his family enjoy traveling
- He is a saver, not a spender
- He is always thinking about the future
- He is a realist, but tends to be more optimistic about the things he is passionate about
- He is very determined

I have a lot in common with this protypical customer. I do not think that this is coincidental, as this is a service that I would also see myself as a potential customer of. I too hope have a family, drive a nice truck, travel and play golf as a leisurely activity. If I was a business owner, I could see myself as a customer of this service, so I do not think that this is coincidental.

  1. Hi Robert,
I think you did a great job creating your typical customer. After reading about your business and ideas, I also envision the customer to look like this. One of the traits that stood out to me was that he drinks a lot of coffee, especially in the morning. I happen to agree with that one because when I think about a businessman around that age, I picture them commuting to work with a coffee. Overall you did a great job!

  2. Hi Robert,
I really enjoyed reading this blog post about creating a customer avatar. I like how you used a realistic picture of what you imagine your customer to look like instead of creating a cartoon one like most students did. After reading how you described this customer, I agree that your ideal customer would look like this and be the way that you stated. You did a really good job at stating multiple traits that your customer would have. Overall, you did an awesome job on this blog post.

  3. Hello Robert, great job as usual! I really like how you limited the post describing your customer avatar to a list instead of an elaborate narrative. This made the post easy to follow. When I picture a business owner in between the ages of 20 and 30, I can’t help but picture them the way you described. Overall, you did a good job!

  4. Hey Robert, I think this is a very apt customer avatar. You have a good deal in common with your avatar, which gives you the advantage of being able to use introspection to solve customer problems, however, since your idea can affect a good deal of people I would also caveat this advantage with ensuring that your solutions don't marginalize any other customers. Hope this helps!

  5. Hi Robert,
I think that you did really well in researching what your ideal consumer might look like. I feel as though it is kind of difficult to find one broad picture to represent your entire target audience may be represented by. Your post was clear and to the point. Overall I think you did a great job!
